樹高12m、周囲8.3m、樹齢約900年。弘法大師にゆかりの伝説がある古木。弘法大師が若かりし頃、諸国を行脚の途中、この地の辻堂で一休みして、杖にしてきた「イチョウ」の枝を刺しておいた。日暮れまで読経に励み、刺しておいた杖を抜こうとしたがどうしても抜けないのでそのまま立ち去ってしまった。やがて杖は根を張り、枝は地面に向って伸び幾つもの房を持つ大木となったと伝えられている。 また、この太古木の幹や枝より垂れ下がってくる乳状の樹皮を煎じて飲むと乳の出が良くなる、といわれている。この逆公孫樹は、嘉永5年、付近の
